What is Hair Grading System?

when shopping arround, you may notice that many vendors use the (5A, 6A, 7A, 8A, 9A, 10A) grading system to describe their hair product. At the very begining it was created  by manufacturers in China as an easy way to distinguish the different level hair quality. The fact is that there is not a “international Standard” for human hair extension grading. There is not a standard hair grades chart that you can pull up and it be accurate. Factory may consider some factors to grading for virgin hair extensions:

origin: Some consider 7A as the Malaysian hair, 8A for the Brazilian hair, and RAW for the Vietnamese hair or Indian Hair. (It depends on the vendors' rules)

Hair material: As we all know human hair including virgin hair, remy hair and non-remy hair, usually virgin hair is regard as the higher grade.

Weight: The standard weight of sew-in hair bundles are 100 grams or about 3.5 oz. Is hair grade lower because of its weighs less ? For example: defined 95grams bundle as 7A hair, 100grams as 8A hair, etc.

Single Donor or Multiple: Single Donor hair really only matters for a few types of hair including Indian Temple hair or possibly a unique gray hair. Is it necessary? 99.9% of the time we would say no. Some companies “claim” the hair bundle is from a single donor but I would not pay extra for it.

The proportion of longest hair: Which refer to the fullness of the bundle, hair with less short hair is consider as higher grade. 

Color: How light color can the hair lift to?  The best quality virgin hair will lift all the way to a #613 Blonde. Remy hair lift to darker #27. If you don't have high demand for bleaching or coloring you don't have to choose the most expensive one. 

All these factors above can be a basic consideration when vendors defined the hair grade and different vendors could have different rules while give a number grade. What one vendor consider as 7A hair extensions could be a 9A from another company, so while you are comparing hair quality you should only compare between one vendor.  Many people still don't know that there is no standard on the hair grade and they just compare the grade when choose a vendor and that's why so many vendors try to upgrade the hair even to 12A now.

Virgin hair is the hair that is cut from donor and the cuticle is intact, it is the healthy cuticle that makes the hair shines and soft and ilky. But after the hair is cut, it lacks nutrient. Then the cuticle is easily damaged and the hair will get dry so we need to know how to take good care of hair. Real Virgin Hair can last for 1~3 years with proper care and maintence. The reason we give a life span between 1 to 3 years instead of a certain time is because the hair last time is depends on how well you take care of your hair. If one don't know how to take care of hair no matter how excellent quality hair you have you will ruin the hair in short time. The first step and most basic hair care is to keep your hair clean. Many people are too lazy to wash hair which casue hair stuck and in this case some may blame on the hair quality. To keep your hair clean please make sure you wash your hair at least once a week. Here are some tips for you when washing hair 

1. Brush out your wig or extensions gently before washing. Use a soft-bristled brush or wide tooth comb to remove any tangles.
2. Shampoo your extensions. Sweat and dirt cause tangles, so you should wash your hair regularly. Slowly wet your hair with warm water, use a mild shampoo and lather your hair in the downward motion.
3. Wash your wig with a hair cleanser or mild detergent . Gently place your wig in a tub filled with cool water and allow the wig to soak for give to ten minutes. Rinse the wig with cool water when finished.
4. Absorb the water with a towel and apply argon oil or leave-in conditioner then allow your wig to dry by placing on a manequin head so it will dry in its natural shap. Do not brush your wig when it is wet.
5. Brush your extensions or wig gently after washing. Using a soft-bristled brush or a wide-tooth comb, brush your hair two to three times a day to prevent tangles.
6. Spray the hair with a leave-in conditioner daily to help prevent tangles. You can also use a de-tangling product or sillicon spray to help your hair extensions and wigs stay tangle-free.
7. Tie your hair extensions up when sleeping or exercising to prevent tangles. Wear a swimming cap when swimming. If you have a wig, you should remove it when sleeping, exercising or swimming when possible.
8. Avoid heat, such as curling irons or hair dryers. Do not blow dry your wig and use heat sparingly on hair extensons.(of couse you can do this but it will shorten your hair life span time.)

If the hair is too tangle to separate at the first step you can apply conditoner and leave it for five to ten minutes before you use shampoo.

Hair Extension industry is unregular and no standard, different vendor have different definition about hair quality, sometimes client may confuse and mess up about the hair quality. You must know that many venodrs claim hair as Grade 7a, 8a, 9a, 10a...Have you thinking about by what standard people define hair grade? Some vendors said it's by hair fullness, by hair thickness. But how full or how thick can be define as 7a, 8a? Many consumer complaint that they have experienced many bad hair, grade 7a, 8a grade turn out to be  a scam.  To be honest you can not really blame on seller. Like the article mention above hair industry is unregular and there is no standard for hair,   the grade system is just make up by seller. Every seller standard is different, one seller's 7a hair maybe bettern than other seller's 8a hair. The grade system only make sense when you compare between one seller, not between 2 different sellers.

What is Virgin Hair?

Raw hair is the most natural, pure  and precious hair in the market. It’s just the same curl looking as when it’s on people’s head, it has never been processed even steam processed. With Raw Hair being completely unprocessed and chemical free, usually just have its natural curl most likely natural straight and slightly wavy texture. Curly raw hair is very rare,  not all raw curly hair are the same curly pattern because it depends on people origin, if you see the hair sell on the market all bundles  look strictly the same wave pattern that can’t be call raw hair because wether the curl is achieve by steamed processed or equipment processed it can’t be called raw hair since the curl is created not natural. Raw hair always sell with genuine price and the price differ from bundle to bundle, because raw hair is from single donor who's hair volume and fullness could be differ from person to person, unlike the standard 100grams extension people just determine its price by weight, you can’t  do the same way with raw hair, you have to tell its volume, fullness, weight by touch  so raw hair usually just sell face to face. You are likely to get raw hair from a temple. As you all know most natural black hair is from Asian, Indian and China are one of the 2 biggest country have the largest population so most hair is from these 2 country. Indian has good quality raw hair since the women there are good at hair caring, if you like to have raw hair Indian is the best place to import your hair. However indian's  industrial technology is underdeveloped and not able to do various  hair wave pattern. China has more advanced technology in achieved the hair curly pattern, you should get your hair from China if you want more different curly pattern.
